Just one year later, in 1922, the race found a permanent home at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, a newly built track near Milan. Monza: The Temple of Speed

Nicknamed the “Temple of Speed,” Monza quickly became famous for its long straights and fast corners. The original layout was a demanding 10 km circuit with a combination of road and banked sections. In 1980, the Grand Prix was temporarily moved to Imola to allow for major renovations at Monza, including the construction of a modern pit complex. The race returned in 1981 and has remained at Monza ever since, continuing to challenge drivers with its blistering pace.

• In 1971, Monza hosted one of the closest finishes in F1 history. This event highlighted the top five cars separated by just 0.61 seconds at the finish line.
  
• A tragic day came in 1978, when a first-lap crash led to injuries that ultimately claimed the life of driver Ronnie Peterson, reminding the world of the sport’s inherent risks.
  
• In 2008, a young Sebastian Vettel, racing for Toro Rosso, stunned the world by winning in wet conditions at Monza — becoming the youngest F1 winner at the time.
